Summer Beach Days: Part 3

Today is the final part of my Summer Beach Days photo tour (Part 1 and 2 here and here) and we are heading off a little way up the mountains to check out my favourite waterfall walk that I am dying to show my hubby, who has never been before! Then we are going to cruise around the Pauanui Waterway development and check out some dream homes, there are always several show homes you can take a look at so I can't wait to see what's new!

We pack up the car and drive about 15 mins from Pauanui until we get to the signposted Waterfall Walk. I'm so excited to show you this place it always reminds me of something out of Lord of the Rings and Hubby is excited to start snapping some photos!

About two minutes down the path we see the little creek that the waterfall feeds into...magical right? Something about the light makes it look not quite real...

The day is extremely humid and the air hums with the sound of thousands of cicada's. Native Tui call out among the trees and tiny yellow Wax Eye's and lively Fantail's dart in front of you as you make your way through the bush.

Apparently you can eat these things once cooked?? Hmmm...not too keen!

The path slowly winds upwards...

Finally we see the waterfall! It's not a big one but what is really cool is that there is a deep waterhole right underneath that you can swim in! It's cold, fresh and crystal clear, you can drink the water too since it's run off from the mountains...

It is the clearest water hole, you can see right down to the bottom. The water slowly trickles out into a few shallow ponds before it meets the creek again...

Ah, I love this part of New Zealand it really has a piece of my heart and I was so happy to share it with my husband! After a refreshing dip we headed back to the car and drove to the nearby Pauanui Waterways for some Real Estate eye candy! The developments here started back when I was in Primary School and a new area has recently been developed with empty sections selling for over $500k each. Here is the newer area from the air...

While you can get a 'Bach' here for around the $800k mark there are a lot of properties closer to $1.5M which is an insane amount of money for a weekender! But they are fun to look at, so let's see what the Waterways lifestyle is all about...

The simplicity of this show home appealed to me...

I could definitely cook in this kitchen!

And wake up to this view!

Oh wow!

This next home I love so much because it was designed by Lockwood. My family's bach was an early Lockwood built in late 1980's so I love the exposed wooden walls, especially with the modern lime washed look they are doing now...

These next homes are sleek and contemporary...

Tile floors are definitely the ideal bach flooring, safe for wet sandy feet!

Another beauty...

Cute kitchen...

The lifestyle that the Waterways affords is really incredible if you have the cash to splash. Some of the homes even have their own Helicopter pads!

I hope you enjoyed my photo tour of one of my favourite parts of our lovely country and maybe it inspired one or two of you to check it out next time you're in the area, I really don't think you could be disappointed! A wonderful place with lovely locals, stunning scenery, wild, empty beaches and beautiful homes. My idea of a perfect holiday! :)
